Where to stay in Korcula Town?

Where to Stay in Korcula Town

One of the most important parts of planning any holiday is deciding where to stay. For people visiting Korcula Island we most often get asked about where to stay in Korcula Town. As the main hub on the island, it’s the most popular place to stay.

Staying in Korcula Town – The Pros

  • Public transport typically arrives and departs from here (as well as in Vela Luka, located on the other side of the island).
  • There’s a wide selection of accommodation available including private apartments, back-packing options, hotels and camping.
  • You have easy access to lots of restaurants, bars and shops.
  • It is possible to take day trips from Korcula Town to other nearby destinations on the island and further afield including the archipelago, Mljet and Orebic.

Staying in Korcula Town – The Cons

  • Accommodation is often more expensive than in other locations on the island and the best places will book up in July & August.
  • It’s busy, so unless you stay in a quieter area (or visit out of season) expect to be surrounded by people in the summer.
  • You need to travel a little out of the centre to find somewhere completely relaxing and free from any crowds.

Where’s the Best Place to Stay in Korcula Town?

First up, Korcula Town and the surrounding area is fairly compact. We consider it to stretch from the Bay of Medvinjak to Luka Bay, with Korcula Old Town roughly in the middle. From either outskirt, it’s not much more than a 20 minute walk to the centre along the coastline. Therefore, if you’re planning on staying in Korcula Town it’s not essential to have a car as every where is walkable.
