Korcula – Beauty to Discover

Korcula is a "Beauty to Discover"

This is one man’s reminiscences about his beautiful home town – Korcula. First in Croatian (apologies for anglicizing the croatian letters) and then translated into English as an acrostic poem.

So, come and enjoy, Korcula really is a “Beauty to Discover”.

Ljepotu rodnog grada koji volim od sveg srca

Svaki mali cvijet koji procvjeta ja poznajem

A moj me grad uvijek posjeca na djetinjstvo

Gore u visini i preko zida Dok ne ugledam prostranstvo

Ti i svi mi se veselimo

Lijepim ulicama dragog starog grada

Oh kakvo mjesto za igranje po kisnom vremenu

Dole kraj mora na stotinu lada

Tamo sam naucio voljeti

Ponekad otidem nekoliko dana a onda me ceznja zadrzi u domu

Oblaci koji plove po nebu

Oh, lijepi kao sto ih zelim

Raznolike ribe u tamno plavom moru

Svaku malu pticu koja pjeva, ja poznajem

Utrke i igre koje se svidaju malim djecacima

B Beauty of my native town I love with all my heart

E Each little flower that opens I know

A And my town always reminds me of my childhood

U Up in the air and over the wall

T Till I can see far and wide

Y You and all of us enjoy

T The pleasant streets of this dear old town

O O, what a place to play on rainy days

D Down by the sea on hundreds of boats

I It was there that I learned to love

S Sometimes I go for a few days, then the homesickness keeps me at home

C Clouds that sail across the sky

O O, as pretty as I please

V Variety of fish in a dark blue sea

E Each little bird that sings, I know

R Races and games to please little boys
